Who is this course for?

Any person conducting an in-service assessment of the competence of an on-oboard candidate.

Is previous experience required?

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course. 

How will this course benefit me?

The aim of this course is to enable you as an on-board assessor to supervise the training and monitor the competence of seafarers. A seafarer's competence must meet the standards of the STCW Code.

This course is approved by  the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) on behalf of IMO.

This course will be a part of a blended learning in two stages:

- The first stage is this e-learning course

- The second stage will be the on-board workbook

The training will be complete when all the elements of the checklist pertaining to your on-board assessor

By ensuring you are qualified and certified as an Onboard Assessor.

Is there an assessment?

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 70%.

This course is a combined training consisting of: Elearning and onboard training (exercises and checklists).

IMPORTANT

To apply for an Onboard Assessor STCW course, The Candidate will need to have a Norwegian D-number.

The documentation including the checklist should be sent to STCW@mintra.com, and Mintra will notify the Norwegian Maritime Authority when the course has been successfully completed.

Thereafter, the candidate will have to apply directly to the NMA to receive the Onboard Assessor certificate with reference to the STCW code. 

Who is the course for?

Any officer of the watch looking for an easy-to-follow supplement or refresher to the IMO generic course (IMO Model Course 1.27) and anyone requiring knowledge of the general features of ECDIS.

Is previous experience required?

No previous experience is required to complete this course. Basic nautical knowledge including an understanding of terrestrial and electronic navigation is recommended.

How will the course benefit me?

By providing you with the general features of an ECDIS, its strengths and limitations and hands-on knowledge about the most common features and functionalities all ECDIS have.

By improving the officer’s general understanding of an ECDIS as a computer-based navigation system and its role as part of a navigational watch, thus improving the performance and safety of navigation.

The soft, ‘non-technical skills’ are increasingly important on board due to the rapidly changing workforce and automation of technical tasks. Additionally, maritime accident investigations indicate that a lack of soft skills and human error is the most common reason behind accidents at sea.

Hensikten med kurset er å gi en oversikt over industriens beste fremgangsmåter for entring av rør og tanker.

Etter fullført kurs skal brukeren kunne:
- Vite hva en lukket tank er
- Gi eksempler på lukkede tanker 
- Beskrive farene i forbindelse med entring av rør og tanker
- Identifiser de viktigste lover og regler i forbindelse med entring av rør og tanker
- Forklare hvordan du kan unngå å entre rør og tanker
- Forklare viktigheten av å følge et Sikkert Arbeidssystem
- Beskrive de individuelle rollene og ansvarsfordelingen for arbeid i rør og tanker
- Forklare viktigheten av gasstesting
- Identifiser akseptable nivåer etter en gasstest
- Gi eksempler på arbeidsutstyr beregnet på entring av rør og tanker
- Forklare hvilke rutiner man skal følge i en nødsituasjon
- Forklare alarmprosedyrene i forbindelse med entring av rør og tanker

Kurset er kun tilgjengelig på engelsk. 

Kurset har fokus på forebygging av fallende gjenstander og bruker Samarbeid for sikkerhet sin siste revisjon av håndboken i anbefaling 024 (rev. 4 2018) som retningsgivende. Gjennom økt forståelse for begrepet fallende gjenstander, bruk av praktiske verktøy, hjelpemidler og metoder er intensjonen at kursdeltakere skal være mer observant for dette i sin arbeidshverdag. Denne revisjonen er utgitt 24-02-20.

Obligatorisk arbeidsmiljøopplæring for verneombud og tillitsvalgte gjennomført som e-læring. E-læringen skal kombineres med en samlingsdel som gjennomføres bedriftsinternt eller i regi av ekstern virksomhet.

Klasseromsundervisning

Den bedriftsinterne samlingen kan utføres og organiseres av bedriften selv eller i samarbeid med Mintra/Norsk Industri. Hvis Mintra/Norsk Industri skal gjennomføre samlingen, kreves det minimum 10 påmeldte.

Hvis bedriften selv ønsker å gjennomføre en samling som relaterer innholdet til bedriftens egne rutiner og forhold, vil Mintra bistå med dokumenter og informasjon som beskriver aktivitetene i forbindelse med samlingen.

Arbeidsmiljøloven §3-5 forplikter arbeidsgiver og bedriftsledere å gjennomgå opplæring i HMS. Dette kurset tilfredsstiller arbeidsmiljølovens krav til HMS-opplæring for øverste leder.

Kurset inneholder følgende moduler:
