Asbestos Awareness (US)

Course goal:

This course aims to provide learners with an understanding of US best practice in relation to working with asbestos.

This course aims to provide learners with an understanding of the hazards associated with exposure to asbestos. It will also identify where asbestos may be found, how it can potentially affect your heath, and what you need to do to protect yourself from exposure.

LO1 Explain what asbestos is

LO2 Describe the various types, properties and uses of asbestos 

LO3 Describe the hazards of asbestos

LO4 Identify the regulatory protective measures that should be implemented when working with asbestos

LO5 Give an overview of the health impacts of asbestos exposure

LO6 Identify areas where asbestos may still be found and describe how to identify its presence

LO7 Explain what should be considered when planning work and undertaking a risk assessment

LO8 Describe the typical procedures to deal with an emergency involving the uncontrolled release of dust containing asbestos fibers
